The last two weeks in May are a special time for East Coast equestrians – the Devon Horse Show has been an iconic Pennsylvania tradition since 1896. The horse show has made many changes over the years to become the event of the season it is today, and 2015 brings some exciting updates.
Grand Prix of Devon Gets A Name Change
The Grand Prix of Devon is always the highlight of the show, with top jumper riders competing over a challenging course to the spectators’ delight. In a tip of the hat to the great showjumping mare Sapphire ridden to Olympic gold by McLain Ward, the Grand Prix has undergone a name change for 2015, and is now the Sapphire Grand Prix of Devon. What a fitting honor for such an incredible horse who always performed her best at Devon!
Devon Club Makes Its Debut
Devon is also introducing a new and luxurious way for spectators to enjoy the show with the addition of the Devon Club building. The Devon Club will offer indoor and outdoor seating with views of both main competition rings, perfect for corporate entertaining or large groups. The building will be fully air-conditioned and offer a unique hospitality experience for spectators.
While VIP passes to access the Devon Club can be purchased at the show, those who would like to take advantage of this new amenity are encouraged to buy their passes in advance, as it is expected that they will sell out quickly.
For those who will be watching the young riders during Junior Weekend, there will be special Pony Hunter packages available in the Devon Club for the families and friends of junior riders. Parents will be able to enjoy the view and refreshments in the Devon club while watching their children compete.
GreenDrop Sponsors Devon
To cap off the exciting changes for the 2015 Devon Horse Show, a new sponsor has recently been announced. GreenDrop is an innovative company that makes it easy for people to donate to their favorite charities. It collects clothing, electronics, and household goods at their donation centers. The items are then converted to cash, which is donated to any of several GreenDrop supported charities, including the National Association of the Blind, Purple Heart Veterans, and the Society of St Vincent de Paul. Given Devon’s history of charitable contribution, it’s a perfect match.
The Devon Horse Show & Country Fair continues to be a landmark event in Eastern PA, and one that you won’t want to miss this year! For more information or to buy tickets, visit the show website: www.devonhorseshow.net.
